Charitable subtype - Institution whose principal activity is to promote the prevention or control of diseases in human beings (Health Promotion Charity), namely posttraumatic stress, depression and anxiety disorders.

Constitution Mission Statement:

4.2 Objects:

The objects for which the Company is established as a health promotion charity, are to:

(a) provide learn to surf programs to beneficiaries who are experiencing, or are at risk of the Associated Physical and Mental Illnesses;

(b) encourage beneficiaries to be physically and mentally active to overcome the Associated Physical and Mental Illnesses;

(c) generate conversation among the beneficiaries surrounding the Associated Physical and Mental Illnesses, as well as to eliminate any stigma surrounding the open discussion of these issues;

(d) provide skill development pathway programs to rebuild self-sufficiency, leadership skills and connection with community;

(e) create a broad network of support through collaboration with other mission aligned organisations supporting Veterans and/or First Responders;

(f) provide a platform and conduit for health professionals and service providers to deliver health promotion and preventative health strategies to improve the health, resilience and quality of life of beneficiaries;

(g) provide wellbeing advocacy and support services including providing information about community and government services available to veterans and their dependants, war widows and former serving members, and to assist with rehabilitation and compensation advice pertaining to service-related injuries.

(h) promote the scientific research and publication of study findings of surf therapy programs for Veterans and First Responders;

(i) raise funds and seek donations of goods and services from the public and volunteers to support the overall objects of the Company; and

(j) do all things that are incidental or ancillary to the attainment of the above objects.

And for the avoidance of doubt and for the purpose of section 150(1)(a) of the Corporations Act, it is confirmed that this Constitution requires the Company to pursue charitable purposes only and to apply its income in promoting those purposes.

 

How we spend monetary donations:

Pursuant to ACNC registration as a company limited by guarantee, VSP must allocate 100% of its income to its purpose and objects, as set out in the VSP Constitution clause 5 – the income and property of the company will only be applied towards the promotion of the objects of the company and the company will not be carried on for the profit or gain of the members, neither while it is operating nor on winding up.

Donations specifically assigned to veterans will be held in a separate bank account to be only applied to veterans.
